Twitter Digest: My Tweets for 2008-07-29

  • @coffeesister Re scholarship: It can’t. But thanks — it was a nice idea. #
  • @erinely Thanks, Erin. I’m nauseated with grief at her choices. Still in shock. But I’m still showing up for work & life, so there’s that. #
  • @DrTodd Thanks for your kind note. I am shocked, angry, and grief-stricken. But I’m making it. I hope she does too. #
  • @Karoli Thanks for your note yesterday. She wants so hard to be an adult, yet she left home like a runaway child. I hope she makes it. #
  • @beautifulmess04 I’m glad things worked out for you after you left home — I hope the ‘real world’ is as kind to my girl. :o) #

47×365, No. 88 - Journalism Professor

Click here for an explanation of this series. You reeked of Scotch and innuendo, and you liked being a bleary-eyed enigma shrouded in cigar smoke. In class, you taught, “Don’t complain, and don’t explain.” Your cryptic instructions were legendary, the murky unsaid implying secret depths. But sometimes I think mystery covers nothing much at all.

Twitter Digest: My Tweets for 2008-07-28

  • My 18yo just called: She’s moving out today to live with girlfriend in GA and will go to school there. Throwing away $35K in scholarships. #
  • To say that I’m stunned is the very, very least of it. I’m so sad she didn’t feel she could tell me this. And angry at the sneakiness. #
  • I told her I love and hope she’s happy, and good luck — did she need anything? I also said it’s a mistake, but it’s her mistake to make. #
  • @thespacebase Thanks — the least of my worries. #
  • @marjorie5 Oh yeah, door’s open. I told her I loved her, I wished she wasn’t making this choice, but I’d help her anyway I could. So SAD tho #
  • @bgsand I’m worried about things like whose health insurance is gonna cover her? Will depend if she’s in school, right? TeenIDIOT. So sad — #
  • Hi, Tonilyn! I look forward to more good things from craftynation.com. Enjoyed the beta preview. :o) #
  • @thespacebase That’s okay — thanks. I appreciate your thinking of us. #
  • @beautifulmess04 I know — it’s just such a waste. She was going to get a premium education at a very fine school, due to scholarships. :o( #
  • @skeletonkey Thanks — I didn’t know that. We’ll check today. #
  • @bgsand lol — both stages of life are full of shit, though — right? #
  • @Tastelikecrazy Yeah, that’s what I’m doing. I hope she doesn’t fall on her face, or at least too hard. I am so worried. #
  • @Karoli Thanks. My mind is still reeling. I just hope “the real world” is kind to her naive self. #
  • I’m gonna sign off twitter right now since my brain is whirling with our family’s news. Thanks to all — very much — for your kind words. #
