47×365, No. 61 - Anorexic Roommate

Click here for an explanation of this series. You agonized over eating a whole egg for breakfast, so you skipped lunch and dinner. When you pulled your thin cotton bedspead up to your chin, your feet were the only noticeable bumps. Your hair was gray in patches, and I don’t think you were even 20.

Twitter Digest: My Tweets for 2008-06-29

  • I worked 8 hours today & came home whimpery-tired. Had a huge backlog of old files that needed, um, filing. Like, several years worth. Oops! #
  • When I changed jobs in 2006, I just moved across the hall. Didn’t even move my files. Now my old & new work groups are moving & I *had* to. #
  • One benefit of slogging through old work files: I’m reminded of old hassles & MOST of all reminded to be grateful for my present job. :o) #
  • The sad part: I’ve got to do some MORE filing tomorrow. (Did I mention that I hate to file & kept putting it off?) *sigh* Such a slacker! #
  • Open question: What’s the one work task (or home chore — I’m not particular) that you keep putting off because you haaaate to do it? #
  • @jmilikien Dutifully praying for a very, very sleepy child. I never could sleep through my tot’s wails either. :o/ #
  • Was SO excited to see a “Twit happens” bumper sticker today. Thought, “Twitter is hitting the mainstream!” Then saw Bush’s face on sticker. #
  • My exercise goal tanked this week. But I DID clean out years of files at home AND work. And my shoulders hurt. That counts, right? PLEASE? #
  • Open question: What’s your most TENUOUS link to fame? Mine: A friend’s grandmother made some of Graceland’s drapes. Kinda cool, though. #
  • @jmilikien LOL. I enjoyed that country-western song, “Did I shave my legs for this?” way too much myself. #
  • @jmilikien Get out! That’s nifty. I thought of another: A co-worker when I lived in Rochester was Emo’s cousin. (The weird comic.) #
  • @jmilikien LOL! I once had Art Linkletter’s home phone number, for an interview back when I was a reporter. Your mom’s was WAY cooler! #
  • Thinking of offbeat names lately. Almost named my youngest after hubs’ grandmom, until she protested: she hated her name, Anzanetta. #
  • Just noticed our enormous fluffy cat has relaxed into his usual rug-like shape. (Boy, I’m full of random Tweets tonight, aren’t I.) #
  • @jmilikien I do that too with my paternal grandmother’s sibs. They didn’t live nearby, and I never met some of them, I’m sorry to say. #
  • @RhodesTer Whoa, there, back up a minute! Where in Seabiscuit? & do tell of your murderous impulses toward the glitterati. ;o) #
  • @RhodesTer Aw, you’re signing off, with a cliffhanger like that. (What’s a Twitter tease … a Tweeze?) #
  • @FabGirl Recommend Bounty for all those tears. The quicker picker-upper. :oP #
  • Gonna sign off for the night, tweethearts. Sleep tight — #

47×365, No. 60 - Smelly Girl

Click here for an explanation of this series.I winced when you or your sisters sat near me on the bus. Brown grime ringed your fingernails, and even mouth breathing didn’t completely cut your aggressive stench. Your hair was oily and lank. But your brothers were clean. I didn’t understand your poverty or your life.
