Twitter Digest: My Tweets for 2008-05-30

  • @Karoli I like to think there’s a taser for every need. :o) Tonight, my older daughter must want me to obtain one & set it at “BBQ.” #
  • Daughter’s missing her calling in theater. Her every gesture & inarticulate grunt says, “Mom, you idiot LAME-O.” All without words. #
  • Youngest daughter is downstairs with a friend, madly playing some video game that involves slapping a monkey. Not a euphemism. #
  • Hubby’s on his way back from Leland, Miss. He’s been on the road for about 8 hours today, plus heavy lifting time, helping little bro move. #
  • Better him than me! #
  • @ylooshi I read it earlier — a really good post. Found it via J-Walk (a favorite blog). High-five! I’m feeling jealous! :o) #
  • @schmutzie Hmm … kittens for all. Would those be freelines? *booing myself* #
  • I’m going to hell for nuding the thermostat up, but the hot-flash years are no time to economize on the a/c. Or so I tell hubby. #
  • @sweetney I do it all the time. Have a WordPress plugin that auto-sends the comment to the person I’m responding to. Works for me! #
  • @ninjapoodles For some reason your earnest chicken avatar is making me giggle tonight. Kudos! #
  • A Girl Scout memorial we’d planned for two sisters whose dad died last week has been postponed. I’m relieved — timing was a bitch on Friday #
  • And I also feel a smidge guilty for thinking about my own time crunch! #
  • @QueenofSpain I think that tweet had everything — booze, beds, blogging, antlers. ;o) #
  • @schmutzie Anything to help me fight the urge to add another critter to my household. :o) #
  • You know anyone w/ the knack for escalation? 1 of my relatives could see a raw nerve & feel compelled to grind a cheese grater on it. #
  • @ninjapoodles *SNORT* That is perfect! #
  • @bgsand Cool air, clean sheets, oh my. Reeeeelaxing. #
  • I think I’m going to enjoy the last half hour of Friday eve with some podcasts. Night, Tweets! #
  • Niebu, Tweeps. (Loving the fact we have our own budding language here.) #
  • Hmm, it’s not a language though, is it. More like a vocabulary. #
  • I used hubby’s car yesterday and misplaced keys, so gave him my car to use today. Now? Madly looking for his keys so *I* can go to work. Hmm #
  • @MenwithPens Apparently you have the talent of pleasing people without trying but cannot annoy at will. Such a sad talent. :oP #
  • @bc *racking my brains* I don’t get it … ? #
  • My followers just dropped by six and then went back up by four. Twitter, you tease! #
  • @bc Thanks! I got niebu but “fewirby” sailed right over my head. The ‘f’ staying the same boggled me. :o) #
  • Question for the Twitterverse: Do you read the blogs of everyone (or most) you follow on Twitter? #
  • @lalunablanca Niebu! I’m feeling especially clueless this morning; SUW=? Having fun making up weird possibilities, tho. #
  • @bc Go for it & Tweet when it’s posted! :o) #
  • @problogger I’m wondering how the owners will monetize Twitter so they can add capacity. I don’t see space for ads. Any ideas? #
  • Yikes, I need to quit tweeting and scoot into work. Busy day ahead. Cya later, Tweets. #
  • @problogger I figured something like that might pop up one day. I’d be willing to pay a monthly fee to fend off ads. :o) #
  • Found a tiny vial of patchouli oil in a drawer; dabbed a bit on. LOVE it. Older daughter: “Ew, that smells like dirt!” Me: *miffed* #
  • Couldn’t find: car keys (borrowed 17yo’s), glasses (hidden in purse pocket), or breakfast $ (dug in purse). Not my best organized morning. #
  • Question for all: Do you block the spamtwits? I never get Tweets from ‘em, but weird to be followed by breastcancer, caturine, and herpes33. #
  • <– wondering if the names Herpes1 to Herpes32 were already taken. #
  • @mkhall A melancholy tweet. Hope the weekend’s silences are the peaceful, content kind. :o) #
  • OK — gonna be good now and WORK instead of Tweeting. Later, y’all! #
  • Woo-hoo! Youngest daughter just made it to the 2nd round of tryouts for the Cougars (competitive soccer team). She’s ELATED! (me too) #
  • @rakuette Re scatterbrained morn: I was comforted by the fact that daughter’s overnight company told me her mom always loses things too. :o) #
  • @lisamariemary Am trying to escape the work quicksand to tweet but it’s sucking me down .. heeeeelp meeeee #
  • @jchutchins Oh, what a BUMMER. Sympathies on the theft. That’s happened to me before too — broke a window to get zippo, nada, zilch. #
  • @jchutchins Just curious what is the flap you’re talking about, re poweruser Twitter divas. Yeah, I know I’m nosy. ;o) #
  • @VDog Nice pic! #
  • @Velma You have one of those too? My 17yo couldn’t care less, but my 10yo can’t STAND to be late, forget items, etc. (Glad 1 of them cares!) #
  • @VDog I only wish mine had that glow to it all the time. My red tones only pop out in the sunshine. :o) #
  • Getting outof the Twitter pile now — work calls. Later! #
  • @bgsand Thanks — my 10yot is a soccer devotee. I enjoy it too but am glad the season’s last game is tomorrow! Welcome back, Saturdays. :o) #
  • @akaMonty Just pick a friendly ear. It’s the telling that helps, not the hearing. Well…pick someone unlikely to hurt you with the secret. #
  • @akaMonty Ah, those pie-holes — always popping open! Hope you find a willing friend. Troubles shared are halved; joys shared are doubled. #
  • @AngellaD lol at the neighborly meow comment. I had to visit your page to see the context. Huh — I must be missing some tweets. Darn it! #
  • What IS it with me and the trite adages today? *shaking my head, checking to see if anything rattles* #
  • @copyblogger Awesome! What’s the cut-off date before late enrollment fees kick in? :oP #
  • Oh, ick. Gotta get busy working again. Bye til we tweet again — #

Interesting peek in the your life. I guess this (twitter) is what we do now that we dont sit on the front porch and talk to our neighbors any more. Kinda sad really that we have to find people all over the world to communicate with when we have neighbors living right next door who are just as wierd and neroitic as those “friends” online are. The difference is with the online version we don’t know how weird they are…

This was mostly meant in a humorous way… mostly.

Nothing wrong with sitting on the porch talking to neighbors, but it’s hot and steamy and there are mosquitoes everywhere during the Tennessee summer. :o) I can’t speak for everyone, but I think of Twitter as an addition to my life, rather than a substitute.

I know what you mean that online personas are just how people choose to present themselves, though. *shrug* I don’t really worry about it. Somehow, the “real” still comes through, you know? Jerks eventually surface as jerks; thoughtful, kind people still show up as people with heart. And I get to enjoy their company online in the meantime.
