47×365, No. 1 - Juanita

Click here for an explanation of this series.Your shiny black hair was slicked back under your stiff white nurse’s cap, and you held out a medicine cup of pale pink liquid. Your lips pursed; you quivered, waiting. And you snatched the empty cup back. You never waited long enough for it to take effect.

Twitter Digest: My Tweets for 2008-04-29

  • <– Idiot. I managed to get an automated SMS service sending me TWO messages over and over. (Not my 1st time either.) Technicians ba … #
  • Ironically, one of the repeating messages is, "This message confirms that you have discontinued and will no longer receive messages." #
  • <– Relieved I have unlimited text messaging, as this is a company cell phone. *whew* Messages in the hundreds by now. Phone is OFF. #
  • @QueenofSpain I hesitate to ask about the screams. Political news? Or a disaster? #
  • @QueenofSpain I hear ya. "Pundit" sounds a lot like "punt" for a reason. Tempting! #
  • @lisamariemary I gave in to curiosity and Googled Woopra. COOL. Now I’m even MORE curious. Will explore more tonight … #
  • @QueenofSpain Not to poke a buzzing hornet’s nest, but that sounds generalized to me. Maybe "the most vocal/obnoxious Americans"? Not all — #
  • @radix33 I wondered about the body sock myself but wasn’t going to ask! #
  • @radix33 Oh yeah, forgot about that knitted geekery. :o) #
  • @ninjapoodles The stabby comment cracked me up. #
  • Gotta log off; more editing to do before the close of biz today. Later — #

Starting a Year-Long Journey with 365 People

47x365_LOGOIt began with one man who wanted to mark his 40th birthday in a meaningful way. Dan Waber wrote 40 words daily, each time about a different person who affected his life, and he wrote for a solid year. Today, thousands have joined him, talking through their own x365. And I begin tomorrow.

My daily 47 words — no more, and no less — will mark my own age. It’s my tribute to the people who move me, help me, hurt me, and heal me. Some inspire, and others remind me of the choices not to make. So many people. I never expected it to be so hard to compile all the names.

I’m nowhere near the 365 I’ll need, so I’m starting on faith and a list of 171. See you tomorrow.
